Cement Truck Mural. Kente Mix.
A short film about a New York based painter, Andrea Bergart, and her most recent project in which she transforms an everyday cement truck into a rich and complex piece of art. Produced & Directed by Simon Biswas.
ATM’s work speaks to extinct or endangered birds in Britain, bringing light to the issue of wildlife depletion as a result of human growth. ATM grew up in a mill town in northern England and went to art college in Sheffield. As a child, he used to wander around the woods and lined with streams and ponds. “Birds have always meant a lot to me,” he says. “I have loved their songs since I was very young. They are also incredibly beautiful. It’s their balance and co‑ordination, their markings. I also love birds because I love the wild places where they live, and I associate the two with each other.” He discovered and grew to love the work of the great 19th-century illustrators – among them John James Audubon and John Gould – who painted birds. ATM began painting birds in east London, completing a three‑metre tall image of a great bustard on a black-painted brick wall off the Whitechapel Road. If you’re in London look out for these beautiful bird murals – and let it be a reminder to live more sustainably/simply to help protect these creatures and prevent them from all disappearing…
